Trevor Noah comedy career beginnings
Trevor Noah made his first appearances on television with a role in the South African soap opera Insidingo at the age of just 18. He would later move into radio and television work that showcased his comic ability, with his first solo show, Noah's Ark debuting on YFM, a popular youth radio station his native South Africa.
Despite enjoying plenty of success as a presenter and television personality, Trevor Noah's passion for comedy spurred him on to perform as a stand-up regularly. He performed alongside leading talents on home soil, including South African legends like Darren Simpson and Barry Hilton. He also opened for several musical talents and comedians during South African legs of their tours, including a set for Gabriel Iglesias in 2007 and Canadian comic Russell Peters.
Trevor Noah - mainstream breakthrough and international success
In an attempt to boost his career in comedy further, Noah moved to the United States in 2011. The move proved to be a fruitful one, with appearances on The Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman in 2013.
