The Lumineer's rise to fame
Founding members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites began performing together around New Jersey and New York City before relocating to Denver on a whim. They then recruited cellist Neyla Pekarek through Craigslist. They rose to superstardom in December 2011 when they released their first official single "Ho Hey". The single went on to sell two million copies, in the US alone peaking at number three. The band then followed it up with their hugely popular eponymous debut album featuring fun, folk hits like “Stubborn Love”, “Submarines” and “This Must Be the Place”.
The Lumineers attribute their unique style to influences from Beethoven, Guns N´Roses, Bruce Springsteen and “cinematic music and anything strange and weird”, it´s no coincidence then that their music has an eclectic, folk vibe.
