International basketball with the NBA Japan Games
If you love basketball and the NBA, now is your chance to see some of these games live outside North America! The NBA Japan Games is part of the NBA Global Games series, which features NBA teams playing pre-season games against each other in a neutral country (in this case, Japan). NBA Japan Games tickets are available to buy now on StubHub, and you can also sell your spare tickets on our website.
It’s time for quality international basketball
The NBA Japan Games are part of a wider global initiative introduced by the NBA to try and encourage support of basketball around the world. Between 1990 and 2003, 12 regular season games took place in three locations in Japan, with the first ever international regular season game to be played by a US Sports League taking place in Tokyo in 1990 between the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz. While there are other popular sports in Japan, such as baseball, soccer and, increasingly, rugby, basketball is very much on the up and this global initiative by the NBA should not be missed. The opportunity to see games between world-renowned teams in the NBA league is one that all sports fans will want to take advantage of – and this is your chance to be there too! Tickets for the NBA Japan Games can now be purchased from StubHub, and will enable you to see some of the world’s most skilful basketball players and teams take to the court.
The return of the NBA Japan Games
Japan has been a long-standing supporter of the NBA and as such has a fanbase that is passionate and knowledgeable about the game. In acknowledgement of this, in early 2019 the NBA decided to bring the games back to Japan after a hiatus of over 16 years. Japan has a rapidly expanding sports culture, which is backed by the strength of its economy and an ever-increasing NBA fanbase. Some Japanese players have even appeared in the NBA – Yuta Tabuse was drafted in 2002 and Yuta Watanabe, the second Japanese player to compete in the NBA, was drafted in 2018. In June 2019 yet another Japanese basketball player, Rui Hachimura, was selected – this time in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft. While you may not get to see many Japanese players in action, you never know which great sports personalities will be hitting the court. Buy tickets to the NBA Japan Games and then see what else StubHub has in the way of basketball, such as other NBA games or perhaps the WNBA. Make the most of your year with a whole range of exciting sporting events!
