Bonobo background
Bonobo is the stage name for UK artist Simon Green. Green grew up in rural Hampshire, UK, before moving to the more vibrant coastal city of Brighton. With the release of his debut single "Terrapin" in 1999, Bonobo became one of the most talked about trip-hop DJs in the UK. The first Bonobo album Animal Magic was released via Tru Thoughts record label in 2000, and then Bonobo signed to Ninja Tune records. 2003 saw the release of Dial M for Monkey and in 2006 he released his third album Days to Come which was voted the album of the year by Gilles Peterson's listeners. The 2009 album Black Sands cemented Bonobo's place as one of the most talented and exciting artists in electronica and was described as "a record of epic reach and massive emotional pull, held together by Si’s understanding of composition and arrangement of live instruments as well as his mastery of the bleeding-edge techniques of the digital age." Big names in music were desperate to collaborate with him and Erykah Badu worked with him on his 2013 records The North Borders. Finally, in 2017, Bonobo released Migrations and the album was promoted by a massive Bonobo tour, culminating in two massive shows in London. Bonobo live
Unlike many electronic artists, Bonobo often performs live with a full band, performing live versions and often remixing his tracks. This was unlike what any other electronic musician was doing and helped to give Bonobo a unique position in the music scene. Having also developed a DJ set that uses club reworks of his own tracks, Bonobo has made sure that he is a phenomenal live act in whatever form you see him. Just like artists like Caribou, Four Tet and Flying Lotus, Bonobo is flying the flag for modernist music that can reach arena audiences but still touch people on a personal level. So, don't miss out on the chance to get Bonobo tickets and buy yours today!
