"Take On Me" and international success
Formed in 1982 in Oslo, the band consisting of Paul Waaktaar-Savoy, Magne Furuholmen and Morten Harket quickly rose to international success with their stunning debut album, "Hunting High and Low", which hit the shelves in 1985. Of course, it rocketed up to Number One in their homeland Norway, but it reached an amazing No. 2 in the UK and netted No. 15 on the US Billboards. And who could be surprised? After all, the album featured the blasting hit songs "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines On TV". Soaring up into international stardom, the trio pocketed a Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist" and their debut album became one of the best-selling albums of 1986. But where to go after such an explosive career start? The band continued issuing albums like candy until 1994 saw the release year of their fifth album – as this didn’t yield such big success, the band took a creative break. However, their glory days were far from over. Their long-anticipated sixth album was released in 2000 and well received by their fans and critics. Although undeniably a huge success in Norway, their international and European-wide footprint is clear to see. Especially the UK seemed to take a liking to their upbeat sound and certified several of their albums Silver. With well over 50 million records sold worldwide and fans coming to their sold-out concerts from every corner of the planet, it’s time to snatch up your A-Ha tickets from StubHub. Get a little 80s feeling with their well-established hits and be amazed by their new concoctions.
Record-breaking artists
If your band manages to be named in the famous Guinness Book of World Records twice, you certainly know what you’re doing. Their first record was for drawing the biggest paying audience to a rock concert with 198,000 people attending their show at the Rock in Rio festival. In 2001 Morten Harket, singer with the band, was added to the world record book for holding the longest note (20.2 seconds!) live. Maybe you’ll be lucky and hear him do it again – with A-Ha tickets from StubHub, you’re certainly in with a chance. To revel a little more in times past, you could also consider buying tickets for the Pet Shop Boys, Tears for Fears or Alphaville.
